Welcome to Pig and Olive!
To be honest, owning a pizza business was never a big dream of ours!
Having worked in catering and hospitality all our lives, we moved to a small holding in Devon in search of 'the good life', and swore never again to work in an industry well known for its unsociable hours, hard work, poor pay and continuous staffing problems.
And yet, in 2015 Pig and Olive was started with our first wood fired oven bought off eBay for £200, and a custom built trailer made by Simon (a man of many talents).
Back then our pizzas were made with bought in frozen dough balls, rolled out with a rolling pin, but people loved them, and we saw that the only pizza on offer was from big chain companies, and people wanted something different.
We now employ 26 people all year round throughout the business and make it our top concern to make sure they are well looked after in our continued effort to buck industry trends.
And living in this place of outstanding natural beauty also highlights our responsibility to do everything we can to reduce any negative impact we have on the environment, being certified 'plastic free' since 2017, and always looking for new and innovative ways to operate.
